This is a story from the time of Taisho Democracy when the writers of the Shirakabaha (White Birch School) lived along Lake Teganuma and engaged in vigorous creative activities. At that time, curry, which was considered a symbol of progressive food culture, was created in Abiko, Chiba Prefecture.
When you order the Shirakabaha’s curry at the restaurants, you will receive the “The Shirakabaha’s Curry Lunch Mat.”
Please also take a look at the backside of Lunch Mat version 1, “Walking Path to Visit the Literati of the Shirakabaha.”
The Shirakaba’s Curry Promotion Association is a non-profit organization aimed at promoting regional development through the Shirakabaha’s Curry, fostering artistic and cultural activities including the Shirakabaha literature, ensuring food safety and education, supporting local farmers through local production and consumption, regenerating Lake Teganuma, and promoting the cultural sphere of Lake Teganuma.
Recruiting new volunteer members
We are currently recruiting companions to join our volunteer activities at the Shirakabaha’s Curry Promotion Association. Let’s work together to promote the city through the Shirakabaha’s Curry, including promoting the curry, planning and organizing events, producing newsletters, building relationships with curry-serving restaurants, and creating a website. If you are interested, please feel free to contact us.
