The Open Café in the Forest is a stylish facility located in the communal space of the “Citia” apartment complex, facing the cherry blossom-lined city road. It is open for use by the general public as well.
Surrounded by lush greenery, the beautiful environment is enhanced by the seasonal flowers provided by the “Citia Green Club.” Additionally, this area is at the heart of the “Abiko 2-chome Apartment Street,” one of the “Abiko’s Eight Scenic Views,” where you can enjoy a leisurely stroll.
The café’s Shirakabaha’s curry is a mild chicken curry with abundant vegetables such as carrots, onions, eryngii mushrooms, and tomato puree. The cooking method involves layering the vegetables using the “layered simmering” technique, which brings out the true flavors of the vegetables.
“Layered simmering is a cooking method that draws out the inherent flavors of vegetables. Depending on the type of vegetable, there are yin and yang forces at play, so we stack them from the bottom accordingly. No oil is used. Root vegetables are considered “yin,” while surface vegetables are “yang.” Our unique feature is using miso (produced by Yamatsune Miso, a local company) and bananas as a secret ingredient. We cut off about 2 centimeters from the end of the banana, as we heard that pesticides tend to accumulate there. For the Fukujin pickles, we use natural, non-colored ones. We use safe and secure ingredients and put effort into our cooking to serve you.”
As it is a communal facility, we strive to keep costs as low as possible.
